Los rojillos defeated Nstic with a goal by Kike Garca and an own goal by ric Montes.

Tarragona, Spain (Thursday, January 5, 2023) Club Atltico Osasuna advances to the Copa del Rey round of 16 after defeating Nstic 1-2 at Nou Estadi Costa Daurada on Thursday afternoon. Forward Kike Garca gave the lead to the rojillos, but midfielder Pablo Fernndez sent the game to extra time. Defender ric Montes scored an own goal in the dying minutes of extra time to seal the game. Besides the ticket for the next round, los rojillos saw defender Diego Moreno make his first team debut.

It was the Navarrese squad who started controlling the game and creating chances. The first dangerous opportunity came in the 12thminute, thanks to forward Chimy vila. Following a corner kick, the Argentinean found the ball and shook the woodwork with a stunning volley. Four minutes later, Garca scored his fifth Copa goal in three matches when he picked up a loose ball inside the box and placed it in the bottom left corner. Garca had another chance shortly after, but the attempt missed the left post. Nstic tried to equalize before the half, but a solid defensive effort by Osasuna stopped any threat.

In the second half, the home team improved, and in the 62ndminute, forward Andrei Lupu took a shot that went over the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Fernndez tied the game with a header following a corner. As the 90 minutes were coming to a close, the referee sent off Fernndez after showing him the second yellow card for dissent.

In extra time, Abde and midfielder Moi Gmez led the rojillos as they opened spaces and took shots to break the tie. In the 112th minute, Abde dribbled the ball inside the box and sent a dangerous cross that bounced off Montes and into the net before connecting with forward Ante Budimir, who was waiting in the middle of the box.

On Saturday at 1 p.m. local, Osasuna will find out who its round of 16 opponent is during the Copa del Rey draw. The next game for the rojillos is on Monday, January 9 at 9 p.m. local (8 p.m. GMT/3 p.m. ET) against Atheltic Club at San Mams on Week 16 of LaLiga Santander.
